Document Preview Intermittent - Not Working

Sorry to add to the threads on Preview (this is my first post) but I've read as many others as I can plus the documentation and am still at a loss as to why my document preview stops working. Hoping someone can please help.

Yesterday I had MS Word document preview working perfectly under the settings below. Today it is not working. In the interim I made a simple config change and restarted OpenKM. Now the only doc previews are the ones from yesterday stored in cache. Nothing new works. The error in the preview tab is "There was a problem with the conversion generation".

I should note that PDF, image, and other media previews work well and consistently. And I have had .doc, .docx and .xls file preview working well but it stops working.

I'm on OpenKM 5.1.10, Windows Server 2008, JBoss 4.2.3, OpenOffice 3.2, and using various browsers. My config is:

I have read that

If you have a OpenOffice / LibreOffice instance running when you start JBoss / OpenKM, the service won't start properly and when you close your OpenOffice / LibreOffice instance you would not use it to convert an MS Office / OpenOffice document to PDF, or generate a document preview. I am not sure if the above is the clue for me or not. Perhaps I should be shutting down Openoffice somehow but not sure. This is the only remaining config for me. Love OpenKM but hate that I can't keep this working.

Tree suggestions:
- upgrade to 5.1.11
- read http://wiki.openkm.com/index.php/Previsualization
- upgrade to 6.2.3

Is not normal today show preview and tomorrow with same document not seeing. Is a production server or you're using for other things ? Pay attention soffice will not start correctly if you have opened before openoffice in the server and you're editing some document etc...

Problem Solved...I think!

Thanks for the reply. I believe I have the issue solved. You know how they say the problem is sometimes between the keyboard and the chair ? I think that is the case here. I was not shutting down Jboss. Simply closing and restarting OpenKM. This never seeed to have any negative affect. Now that I am shutting down jboss the preview seems to be working consistently. Thanks!

soffice service is started and stopped by jboss if stop is not correctly done daemon continues running and then not allow to create new one whe openkm starts again ( probably this could be the reason of your problem ).
