Plain Text Preview

Hi everyone,

I'm running OpenKM 5.0 RC1 on Ubuntu 8.04 with Firefox 3.6.12, Java 1.6.0_22, and OpenOffice.org 2.4.1.

I've gotten most file type previews to work (pdf, doc, jpg) except plain text. I get the error message "Document URL not provided or invalid." In server.log I see messages such as:

15:46:09,173 ERROR [OKMDownloadServlet] Error in text/plain to PDF conversion java.io.IOException: Error in text/plain to PDF conversion

Caused by: java.io.IOException: Error convertind document: could not load document: okm418351947660189211.doc

I tried previewing a .txt file that I found on demo.openkm.com and got the same error message.

Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong?

Is a OpenOffice problem. A more recent version can work better, but can't promise you. If the text file has few chars seems to fail more often than bigger text files.

i have the same problem with OpenKM 5.0.2. I can't preview any .txt file in Preview tab.

But i think i've found a way to solve it.

1. Log in OpenKM with administration account.
2. Go to Administration tab
3. Click on Mime types button
4. Scroll down "text/plain" line and click on Edit button
5. Change extension value from "properties txt" to "txt". Done.

You should try a more recent OpenOffice release (like 3.2.1) because in 2.x the document conversion have some bugs.
