I have read a lot about the issues with IE and Javascript and the Administration Tab but nowhere I have read what are the specific issues or bugs that someone would have to code around in order to get it working.

In many corporate offices IE is the standard for better or worse. There are many places where having an alternative browser such as Firefox is not an option. I can accept that IE has issues with javascript and that it causes difficulties in displaying the Administration page but this is something that should be able to be resolved.

Iam not asking you to spend your time but identifying the specifics of the issues so someone could have the option of resolving for their version of IE that they are stuck with in a company certainly seems reasonable.

Question: Could you post what the speific issues are with IE and why its failing to display the Administration page so I can work of coding a fix to resolve it. We are currently running IE 6.

The specific issue that some IE users (IE7) founded is that now shows Administrator tab ( only one user must show it tab, I think is not a great problem than administrator user use firefox meanwhile ).

Is not clear why, because on our machine on IE6 runs properly but seems on IE7 there\'s something on browser that not runs well. The problem is so easy, on web UI, there\'s a iframe where into there\'s the back administration utilities. For some reason on IE7 not shows it content. Conclusion is a classical IE problem, not wrong code by us. What can we do, really on this case because is on administration hand I recomend to use firefox for administrator. I\'ll investigate it and i\'ll try to solve on next version including some emulation js librabry to correct some IE js engine problems. Hope you can understand me when I said that \"I\'m really bored with IE family, because on each version I need to made patches to solve problems on their code\" for it, and for better js engine on firefox, less virus problems, etc.... I\'ll recomend to any users to study the change to other browser.

I think adding this library http://code.google.com/p/ie7-js/ could help on solve this problems, but I don\'t like to put it, because i increase js code, and I must test performance. ( This library correct I6, ie7 bugs ).

If you want to take a look at code, classes are:
TabWorkspace.java
Administration.java -> iframe not shows content

The content of iframe must be http://host:8080/OpenKM/es.git.openkm.backend.Main/ ( consider to try it first, logged previously as admin user ).

Thanks for giving some guidance around this issue. I certainly understand your position and the issue of having Firefox approved as a browser standard is something that continues to be raised due to the continuing JavaScript issues with IE versions.

We are currently on IE6 and may not move to IE7 but go directly to version 8 whenever it is released as GA and gets to at least SP1. In the meantime I have already proposed your solution around simply having Firefox available for the Administrator only of the KM solution. It will have to go through all the approval steps for our change management but such is life in corporate IT.

You voiced that IE6 wasn\'t an issue but I am having the same no show issue with IE6 as well, is there a similar fix that you gave the example of for IE7 and 8 for IE6? If so could you supply a link as you did for the other ones.

P.S. After evaluating your product against every other Open Source product for Document/Knowledge Management we could find; yours is the only one that hits the target for usability with such high marks in our evaluation team. The big boys like IBM /FileNet could learn a lesson or two from your lead with client usability. Keep up the good work.

I think there\'s something more than IE version, because I\'m tryed with IE6 on linux ( my normal OS ) and IE6 on windows 2000 professional edition SP2 and I can saw this tab. Do you have some popup killer, any malware installed, antivirus that could close it for you ? I will return to testing with last compiled OpenKM.

Thanks for your words about OpenKM usability, we\'ve dedicated so much effors to do all operations easy to end user, althought it we still need to implement to much enhancements, some easy like TWAIN and other more complex like historical archive and more size repository control.

We still must work hardly the next two years, but OpenKM team is happy when community users colaborate with us, made suggestions and opinions making OpenKM better, and of course when users are happy comunity and professional users.

I\'ve tested today on last production OpenKM and it runs well for me on Ie 6 version 6.0.2800.1106. Nothing seems go wrong on this version, do you have some software installed like I suggest on other post ?

My configuration is the following:

Server:

Windows 2003 Standard Edition Server SP1
McAfee Virus Protection

Client:

Windows XP SP2
Internet Explorer 6 ver. 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2
McAfee Virus Protection

I want to be sure were looking for the same issue so let me describe it more specifically. I am able to see all the tabs including the Administration tab but I am unable to see any of the content or images and controls that should be displayed on the page.

I know that they are there because I can move my cursor over the area where the images should be displaying and the status will show the links for the different options and if I select one I can see different controls such as list boxes display and I can even select items in the list boxes but nothing else displays on the tab.

I see no images or text for anything else.

I hope this helps to clarify the issue.

You\'ve got and newer version than I, I\'ve got 2800.1106 and you\'ve got 2900.2180.

On my version I can see all content, images, etc... when I select the administration tab.

I\'ve attache a screenshot file [file name=ie6.zip size=77435]http://www.openkm.com/images/fbfiles/files/ie6.zip[/file].
