Hello,

OpenKM 6.3.0 running on an up to date Centos 7 server. Recently I noticed when using the Java bulk uploader that it would throw the following error when a file is dragged in its window:

Unknown file type

Then the file remains in the uploader window with status="Uploading". This operation will never finish.

I have checked firewall config to ensure some ports were not blocked but this is not the problem. Client is running Linux Mint 17.3 also up to date. Java seems (AFAIK) to start properly after the several security warnings.

I have checked catalina.out and catalina.log, (tail -f) and nothing appears when this incident occurs.

What else could I check to find the root cause of this problem?

Thanks!

Hello jllort,

As I suspected, this seems to be caused by the client side (Firefox 45.0 running on a Linux Mint 17.3 machine). After a reboot of the workstation, the bulk loader is working again.

I must say, Java is becoming a gigantic mess. In the last few years, I have seen a drastic increase of issues associated with the Java plugins (not necessarily in OpenKM) but in general. With the several confirmations and security warnings to manually activate every time someone want to use Java, its not a surprise things breakdown sometimes.

Still, I am not sure why a reboot helped. In Linux, I never need to reboot other than for a kernel update. FYI, the extensions were various as I tried to upload several types of documents. Most were PDF's but I tried with a few Libreoffice documents and JPEG's.

File sizes were all below 10MB. Normally, on my setup this is not an issue as I have tweaked the server to accept larger files (upwards or several GB's).

Im sorry this fixed itself, as now it is difficult to debug. If you need more info, please post back.

Thanks!

We are with you, Java browser plugin and in general all the applets are a tedious feature. We are working on getting a solution for it, because at the end of the years applets will be part of the IT history museum of death features.
