Setup emails and subscription

Dear All,
Im new in openKM. Im looking for information how to setup send emails from system.
I would like get infomration if anybody change a folder or file (for this I think is function "Subscription") or inform user by "notify useer" by upoload file.

I test it but I never get email. I think I hasnt configrate this function, but I cant finde it. Can you describe me how to setup email configuration?
