In the community version how do I advance a file major version number?

I don\'t understand the question ? when you edit document and upload again, the version documents changes automatically ... is that the question ?

When you check in a version / upload it again, the version is automatically changed obviously. The update is of the minor version number (i.e. 1.1->1.2). The question was, how do I advance the major number (i.e 1.1->2.0).
You can not.
You start with version 1.0 ( really 0 ) then goes to 1.1, 1.2, et.... if for example in 1.3 you return to older version then you create 1.2.1 then 1.2.2 etc.... that's the idea, you're building a tree numbers structure. If you forget the first number, really goes like you spect,
