We tried to make OpenKM as intuitive as possible, but an advice is always welcome.

Is there a way to generate a logout button on the right side of the selection?

You can change login apperance with simple patch at OpenKM.war. Basically you're interested in login_desktop.jsp ( where's html structure ) and desktop.css file. To open and edit OpenKM.war file you can use zip application. Remember after any change in OpenKM.war shoudl delete folder OpenKM into webapps and folder localhost into work/Catalina to apply the changes.
