How to configure Direct Link

This service is useful in some situation, but not if I don't want some user download documents. How can I configure this function? What means "A good practice is configure the user profile disallowing anything"? I can't find the options for this "Direct_link" in the profile setting page. I want to set this function "on" for some users and "off" for others.

In actual community version will not be possible. Actually in professional version there're some extra security grants like download, then is so easy simply remove the download grant to some users for some documents and are not able to downloading. At ends of this year, start next will make major update from professional to community, probably this kind of features will be exposed to community.

If you want to disable this feature you need to remove (or comment) the "Download" servlet from web.xml
