Hello,
I am currently trying this product as a replacement for sharepoint. Most aspects seem to be running well but, I have a question about document editing. Whenever I check out a document it opens in word as readonly. I then have to save as a different name but, then I am unable to check back in. I know I could rename again but, this would not go over well with end users. Am I missing setting or is this not possible?

What I would like to have happen is a user checks out a document and starts editing it. Other users would still be able to open\check-out but would be in a read-only state.

I have checked the permissions and they all indicate that I have write access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

running on ubuntu 10.04

Hi I had the same problem, but...

If you check out a document, the browser asks you to open it, or save it.
If you choose to open it, the browser downloads it to some temp directory -- then the file is read only.
If you choose to save it, you can save it to your local working dorectory, and from there you can then open it, edit it, and upload it to OpenKM when you do a check-in.

It makes sense if you think about it:
You don't want to be working on documents in your browser's temp directory, because the browser could remove them at any time (e.g. when you exit your browser).

So your solution is: when you do a check-out, choose "Save", not "Open"

BTW thanks to the wonderful OpenKM people for such a great system!
