Open Source Document Management System | OpenKM

Hello,
I want to launch document management system.
Where I will sell 1gb to 10 gb space to users and organisation using openkm community version.

is it legal under public license ?

You can not selling openkm as software, you only can sell services asociated to ISP or with technical support for example.

About ethical aspects, in the same way you get some benefits from openkm software will be good idea you provide something to the project, that will help the project and yours too. Here are several options, I do not know if you have contacted with us or not, if not you could contact with us and then we could try to find some way for working on it together. If that is not possible there are other ways to contributing with us, makind integrations with thirdparty software that you can sold as modules ( we can add in our network ) and that helps openkm growing etc...

I am not selling the software.
as per my business i always need documents of clients that too yearly.
So i will use this one and i will sell my clients the webspace and there they can upload the files on the website which will be openkm.
I will host OpenKm on my server and people will login and they will upload the files which i need from them. for that i will charge them the hosting space.
OpenKm will help me to keep data in good manner. I am not selling openkm service i am using it my hosting space which i will be selling.

You can doing it. Install software and offers to your customers as is, and sell only for your ISP work.

I will not lose time about ethic etc... I think you have got clear ideas about which are your spectative with any open source project. Finally to be totally clear with you, these will be your community installations, your benefits, your zero compromise with open source community and your problems. Do not expect major support than you can get in wiki documentation and which can obtain in this forum.

I would also love to know more about your hosting service?
how much will be the final charge for unlimited user support? at start we will have around 5000 to 10,000 users.

You have in mind having 5000-10000 users with only one OpenKM instance ?
Which kind of repository do you have in mind ( size ) ?
How much concurrent users ?
And what will doing this users ? uploading, downloading, previewing ( it's important to make some prediction on server load )

people will upload download data....preview will be 50% of users...
size i am looking for 15 gb at start.

Daily 500-2000 people will visit and they will perform operations ..........

there is no limit on users creation and 15GB is small - normal size. The limit of hardware will comes with concurrent users.

I want to know
1.How to disable my documents?
2.How to disable taxonomy Categories and all things or how to restrict it to per user?
3. Can we create different groups? ....Like one group ABC will have public space where all can see doc and each user will have my doc but again on same system we will have group XYZ and should not able to access documents of ABC group.

As in this we have taxonomy publicly available right?

Hi i am testing admin panel on my computer also i am taking trial online on

i am facing problem of ROLE
and quota
1. when i asign any other or new role to any user i can't login with that user.
2. when i delete the file from account quota remains same. why?

happen same on offilne server and online server too.

Hi user role problem solved.

Problems i am facing are:
1. If i delete any file that process happens but quota is not coming to digit 0 bytes it show old reading there.
2. After uploading document i used notify user then i said i don't want to notify so i clicked on checked box but then close option of next option was not there or add another document was not there.
3. After giving each type of permission i still can not add any NOTE for any document.
