Is there a way to prohibit printing of certain documents either on the client (browser) or by prohibiting to click on the print button?
Can there be a custom solution by you?

It can be done on several ways. It can be changed previewer to disable printing option to all users, and on version 5.1 not yet available to only some ones.

About downloading, can be disabled to some users using profile. And we've got some extension with does it more accurate, depending is user has or not some role, you can take a look here http://wiki.openkm.com/index.php/Downlo ... ed_buttons ( that extension is only available for our supported installations ).
