Document type change after check-in

Hi,

I've got a question about check-out and check-in operations.

When I create a document by uploading it, say in *.doc format and with "myDoc.doc" name and then I check it out, change the type to PDF and upload it again (check-in), the document name is unchanged (and that's fine) but the document type is also unchanged - it's still a DOC format instead of PDF.

So, the path is:

1. Upload document myDoc.doc
2. Check-out myDoc.doc
3. Change the document (ex. print it, have somebody sign it, and scan it with your scanner which results in *.pdf file)
4. Check-in the PDF file

When you attempt to download the myDoc.doc (which is now a PDF file) it results in opening the file as a WORD which isn't exactly what I expected (lot of junk in the file). Is there any solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

In version 5.0 is solved because you can not uploading a document with different name, etc... that you initaly uploaded. You must not uploading a different mime document when you make a checkin, because it's other document, you must uploading separatelly.

As I said in version 5.0 that's not possible, but because in 4.0 it's possible you must have in mind your doing something incorrectly too.

Just as I expected, the generated (scanned) PDF document should be uploaded separately and not overriding existing one.

Thanks for fast answer jllort.
