The preview should work with conversion in the background. The easiest will be to PDF, more complex should be HTML5. If you share with us a way to convert solid words files to these formats then it is possible to preview otherwise not. Obviously, the transformation should be executed from the command line not using a Windows application.

If you are a customer of SolidWorks should ask them. It is not necessary to be a Linux tool might be a windows one and access remotely to the conversion as a service.

This is not an OpenKM issue is a solid works one. It is needed at least a conversion process for solid works to PDF or CAD. If you succeed on to find a conversion tool what accomplish with it, then will be possible to preview otherwise not. We will not reinvent the wheel, as I said previously as a solid works customer should ask your vendor of software for this conversion. If solid works do not have ... imagine sure nobody will have.
