We have a use case that whenever we have a project, we will record the lessons learnt over the course of the project life cycle. We are using Excel now and want to move to a system that can better manage these records.

For each project, there is a Excel spread sheet mimicking a database table, having columns like category of lesson learn, description, results, impacts, ...etc., and each row is a record that will be added over the project life cycle.

We want the future system support searches and possible data mining.

Want to ask users here will this be is legit use case for OpenKM?

Thanks a lot for any advises!

Is not a trivial case, usually in this scenarios I suggest to build a small application in front connected to OpenKM with web services. Using our SDK libraries can build applications quickly ( more information at http://docs.openkm.com )

The community edition does not work with records in the same way it works professional, but you can use folders as an approach. Record ( electronic an non-electronic records ) are used into OpenKM professional edition to control the life cycle of non-documents data, that seems is what you really need.

Take this video as a sample, in less of two weeks you can get something running like https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 3CiTWmOmY0
