No, there's no bug sure. OpenKM installer comes with embeded JVM 32 bits. I suggest be sure is executing under your JDK 1.7 ( take a look at your setenv.sh ).

There are two linus Installers, one - x32 - comes with jdk 32 ( I'm not sure if x64 comes with 64 bit ). On next releases of the installer will comes only with 64 bits and we definitively discard 32 bits. We released 32 bits, because there are still computer with this architecture, but we think has arrived the moment to discard it, almost software now only comes with installers in 64 bits.

The JDK in 32 bits comes with several restrictions. One of them is the limit of Xmx memory what is able to use etc... If you have 64 bits architecture you should take advantage of JDK 64 bits and forget older 32 bits problems. Is quite difficult to make an installer what will be able to take in consideration all the scenarios where application will be installed. In linux I think is better downloading the OpenKM bundle what comes into zip file rather than installer.

We have in mind preparing VM with the application installed, but althought we had starting on doing it, we had not find more time to complete it. I think should be waiting to july-agost.

It's really a pain:
tested both 64 bit installer on a centos and the bundle. i can work only for 5min , then the Error : loading taxonomy - eval browser params appears and stops wverything

no logs either on catalina or on the browser.
i can restart the tomcat . no solution.

fed up. Thanks for your support and explanation
Have a good day

It's the first time somebody is reporting this kind of problem, specially if it's the first start up. Is very very strange, specially if in log is not showing anything. Really the code of the community application - the branch - has more than 4 years and is well tested and stable. From the last year we are few bugs ( 2-3 what really are not critic )

I suggest:
downloading https://sourceforge.net/projects/openkm ... p/download
Installing JDK 1.7 from Oracle ( not openJdK althought should going right ).

Which is your hardware configuration ? and how many free RAM do you have before starting the application ?

I have the same problem. I tried zip installation you mentioned here, problem remained.
Prety much anything I could find you post about installation, still stuck at that message.
I run SLES 12 SP 1 x64.
Tried access from Windows, the same.

Any more idea how to overcome this?

1- Basically you unzip the file ( you will get tomcat fodler and files into ).
2- Ensure your JDK 1.7
3- From command line :
3.1- go to $TOMCAT_HOME/bin
3-2- exeute the command: catalina.bat run

Take in mind you are not starting OpenKM as service, you are starting as an application from command line ( if you close it you are closing the app ).

I got it running, well at least passed error.
There were two problems. Besides Oracle JDK, there was also IBM JDK 8 version, and path was resolving to wrong binaries.
2nd problem was that server has 4 LAN ports connected, and only one was correctly configured for name resolution.

Thank you for help,
Highly appreciated.

You can specify the JDK path into setenv.sh and setenv.bat ( in case windows ). We encourage testing or installing OpenKM in clean servers to prevent problems with another software installed there. About port binding, in your case, I suggest you configure openkm behind apache proxy. From this scenario will be more easy get binding from all network interfaces ( take a look here http://wiki.openkm.com/index.php/Apache ).
