We tried to make OpenKM as intuitive as possible, but an advice is always welcome.

We use iReport ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/ireport/ ). I have never checked Jaspersoft Studio, but the idea is creating jrxml valid files. I think should be the same ( is another IDE for creating jasper reports, the important think is the format of the file ). For example with reports based on database should be exactly the same.

In http://wiki.openkm.com/index.php/Reports_Packs you can download some one ( replace .rep to .zip -> unzip and try opening the file )
