Are duplicate files an issue?

Hi,

Just discovered this app while searching for a tool to manage company documents (Mainly MS Office + some proprietary formats) in preparation for ISO9001 accreditation...

Our current problem is largely many duplicate copies of key files (manuals etc).

Please excuse the noob-ness of the question, but what happens if several users upload the same file to a (say) public folder? If they upload it to different locations, is there some kind of reconciliation so that only one \'real\' copy is physically stored with \'pointers\' from the other locations?

If not is it possible to manually create \'pointers\' (shortcuts, symlinks, etc) to the \'one, true\' copy?

I want users to be able to obtain the file from a number of \'logical\' locations within a determined company tree structure that in reality point to only one \'true\' set of original files.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

An user can\'t save a file into a folder if there is a file with the same name in the folder. This behaviour is based on typical filesystem implementations.

Your idea about document links has already been discussed in our team. Actually is not an implemented feature, but may be done in a future release. Contact us if you want to support this feature for this release.
