Adding automatic document number/ID to each file

My company regularly generates hundreds of documents each day. Currently, when a document is created, we insert the path/filename in the footer (i.e. //network/path/myinvoice.doc). We want to change this and simply insert a document ID number (i.e. 120909.1 -- where the \"120909\" is the document number/ID and the \".1\" designates the version number). We want this number to be automatically generated and appended to the MS Word file when the file is saved/imported to OpenKM.

When a client calls they can tell us the document number/ID they received, and we can simply enter a 6-digit number to pull up the document and it looks \"cleaner\" on our documents. Is there any way to set up OpenKM to do this?

In OpenKM Community there is an unique document id called UUID (it is bigger then 6 digit). Your requested behavior may be implemented in OpenKM Enterprise, but no in Community. You can contact us using the Support > Contact form.
