Problems with IE9

Openkm 6.3.0 (8147) community bundle running on Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server, upgraded from 12.04. Internet Explorer 9 9.0.8112.16421

I know the answer this one, "Use something other than IE". Personally I do, however I need to give a business partner access to our DMS. They use Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) and show no sign of upgrading in the near future.

I've tested in IE8, IE10 and IE11 without issue, and of course, Chrome and Firefox are fine. However IE9 presents a problem, both on my test machine and any number of the partners machines. The problem is that the directory pane on the left of the OpenKM window is not created.

The issue appears to be the same as reported in http://forum.openkm.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12311. Indeed, if I turn on compatibility mode in IE8, IE10 or IE11 this is exactly what happens. However in IE9, I've checked the settings on all test machines and compatibility mode is definitely off for all sites.

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Rob.

Sincerally no. My only suggestion is upgrade or downgrade IE.From OpenKM side is not a bug on it. For what you telling seems there's so specific problem with this IE version, the reason ? unknown and quite difficult discover. We're really tired with IE familly and specially because users always seems focus the problems in applications and not in the browser. We got several patches for IE in code ( is the only browser who needs it ). In this case we will not doing it, because exist possibility to version upgrade and is end user decision stay on buggy version.

Finally, Take in mind OpenKM is GWT based ( google framework ). Two years ago IE 6 was no longer supported, and in no longer time IE older version will not also longer supported ( at least 8 ). Probably some users will not be pleased with it, but I'm agree in this case with google, is not possible maintaining compatibility with all IE version. Is the worst browser never build, day by day used for less users and I do not know why Microsoft continues with it and do not deceases. I do not know any developer who do not hate it, is horrible, non standard.

Really the question should be, why users talk to applications are not going right and does not talk with Microsoft IE guys. This is the point, because web developers we invest hours and hours patching own applications, when really should be patched the browsers. If will be able to sum all the hours - for my point of view - lost on it, will be surrealistic. I'm not anti Microsoft or an evangelist of any solution, each thing has its place, but sincerally some technologies should be definitively discarded ( think only in company costs ).
