According to the error message "officeHome must exist and be a directory" I don't thing you have configured the right folder. Can you tell me the value of the "system.openoffice.path" configuration property? You can see it in Administration (tab) > Configuration. Also can you post here the contents of that directory.
We have tested LibreOffice with the last Ubuntu released and works pretty well.

You shouln't set the property "system.openoffice.server". It will cause failures on your installation. In the "system.openoffice.dictionary" property you can set the location of an OpenOffice dictionary and will be used to enhance the OCR process. Look at OpenOffice web to find dictionaries.

So I've tested OpenKM and Libreoffice with the following 3 settings and none worked for me (the error msgs are always the same as posted earlier)
OpenKM 5.0.4 with OpenSuse 11.4
1. Libreoffice 3.3.1
2. Libreoffice 3.3.2
3. Libreoffice 3.3.3
Any new ideas how to solve this prob?

Maybe this is a problem specific to OpenSuSE. I have installed OpenKM + OpenOffice | LibreOffice in Debian and Debian based distros like Ubuntu and LinuxMint, with no problems. Also installed on RedHat and CentOS.
Have you installed these packages?
* libreoffice-ure
* libreoffice-headless
OpenKM uses JODconverter (
http://code.google.com/p/jodconverter/) to talk with OpenOffice / LibreOffice. I've checked the issue list of this project and don't see anything related to SuSE. I'm pretty sure this problem is due to a bad configuration or you miss any package.
None of our costumers have this Linux distribution installed, so if you wan a better support you should contact us to become a costumer. I cannot spend too much time testing OpenKM in every Linux distro. My recommendation: use Debian or Ubuntu.

Thanks. Perhaps the problem is the headless package (the ure is installed) because it seems as if this package isn't available for opensuse.

I don't think I've attemted to run OpenKM in openSUSE.
If you are convinced it's a LibreOffice issue, there's an OpenOffice repository for 11.4:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.4/
I promised I'd test it, but I still haven't gotten around to it, so here is what I will do:
Currently I am working on a script to backup our OpenKM installation nightly. A backup is only good if we tested that it's working 100% and you can use the backup to restore your data. So I need to test this anyways. I'll make sure that in the coming week I will test the backups on openSUSE 11.4. I'll know if my backups work, and figure out what is going on with openSUSE as the same time!

In OpenKM wiki there several backup scripts. I usually use rdiff-backup in Linux servers and works like a charm.
