Hi There,

I have emails downloading great, but i have not one issue.
OpenKM is not able to recognise that it has already downloaded an email.

by way of example;
- I have a mobile devices (android) which does not delete files from server, only downloads once
- OpenKM downloads, but seems to download the same emails on different days if they haven't been deleted from server
- Desktop (linux - evolution client) which deletes files from server

I guess that is probably a feature request yeh?

cheers. thanks for the great product.

Hi jllort,

I am using POP accounts. But i don't think it matters which provider it is.

The mail thing is, i have to use my main email client to delete from the server to make sure i have chance to read the email and have a backup of it.
Around 20% of my emails, i need to keep with documents i store in OpenKM. hence the duplication of storage i.e. OpenKM + Email client.

But it seems, that the mail reader in OpenKM needs a bit more intelligence so it doesn't keep reading mails, it has already downloaded.
This is something that must be built into Android clients for example, as my phone only downloads new mails.
It doesn't keep downloading mails it has previously.

Cheers

I supposed pop3. There's a quite difference between pop3 and imap ( my suggestion is you use imap ). On imap you got internal mail server count number and we store it to start retrieving from this point. That not exists for pop3 and we're reading all mails still marked as pending to be read.

I do not suggest several reader in pop3 ( this is a bad scenario if you think on it ). For one reader is posible, but mark documents as read.

Hope this could give you some light about it.

Abnahi3, think you misunderstand.

It is like you have pop3 mail client on your mobile phone, and on your PC.
mobile phone is configured to leave message on the server
PC is configured to delete message from the server

You can receive all your emails on your phone and if you delete them after reading, they don't re-download to your phone.
But they still down to your PC after starting the client on the PC.
Also, if you didn't start your PC client for a week, all the emails don't keep re-downloading to your phone everyday.

In this case, the emails keep downloading to OpenKM every day, even though it has already been downloaded.
It only stops after the PC client has deleted from the server.

So there seems to be something not quite right with the Pop3 client in OpenKM.

Hi gwaitsi, the Abnahi3 post was the typical spam post, I've removed it.

About pop3, the problem is on protocol that's now thinked for several readers, IMAP is solution for several readers, because you got a way to save the pointer of the last mail you've readed. Is not a problem what can be solved with openkm or other application, is a limitation with the way on protocol works.
