Content Management functionalities

Hi All,
It might sound a little off-topic, but OpenKM is a great document management system and I would love to see it getting extended into the Content Management area.
Our organization (and I'm sure that many others) are creating documents with volumes, so we are looking for a document management system not only to store them, but also help us to manage the assembly/updates to these documents, which would require solution for the next problems:
- ability to apply templates to documents
- ability to change the template of multiple documents in once
- ability to run a search and replace in the content of all documents in certain folders
- ability to build documents dynamically (link existing documents together and get the output generated)

That could be done using rtf libraries, probably we could make with open office and word documents.

Which kind of documents do you've got ? are rtf right to you or which format do you need
About templates you're thinking in typical tags ( forms ) into documents no ? that could be done

That could be done in OpenKM 5.0 as extension without need to compiling project etc ... that's the main mission of new OpenKM UI architecture.

Your purpose seems exciting, and we could done it, but like other demands I must answers sincerely, our clients demands has preference than others. The first client we demand it, sure we'll implementing, but now we're involved in other clients demands like previsualization of CAD files for example among others.

We mainly thinking about word documents - it can even be RTF. We would prefer Microsoft Word over Open Office, but if it's really necessary we can proceed with Open Office too.
Additional formats could be excel files and html/jsp files, but word documents are a lot more important.

About template yes, we are thinking about typical tags (forms) into documents and also about merging documents, like having one which represent the template and having an other storing the content and then having the option to merge the two, so the same content can be issued by using different templates.

Do you think this is possible in OpenKM 5.0 as an extension?

Yes it can be done as OpenKM 5.X extension, that not meens it's trivials, it's needed to code new libraries to working with RTF or office documents, but can be done.
