I have a community version of OpenKM 6.2.1 and a 20GB database. I'd like to upgrade to 6.3.8, any advice?

The first step, have a backup.
Version 6.2.1 is an old version, from the latest documentation section, is explained how to migrate from 6.2.6 until 6.3.8 https://docs.openkm.com/kcenter/view/ok ... guide.html

You should start from https://www.openkm.com/wiki/index.php/Migration_Guide and following step by step each single version jump.
