I recently installed the openkm 6.3.2 on my MacBook Pro but it is not working I also contacted Apple technical service but they told me that there is no fault in the system. So, can anyone tell me a way to solve this issue?

Hi alice434,
I have openkm in V6.3.6 running on my MacBook Pro.
I used the installation documentation with installer https://docs.openkm.com/kcenter/view/ok ... aller.html.

In general all tasks are similar to the Linux installtions.

You need some additional software installed on your Mac:
- java jdk (see https://docs.oracle.com/javase/10/insta ... E95171AB5F)
- if you want to use a DB, this has to be installed first. I am using mySQL, which has to be installed from here https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

After installation there are some additional intresting addons / plugins:
- tesseract from google for the OCR scanning (to have full text search of your pdf scans) https://docs.openkm.com/kcenter/view/ok ... ngine.html
- libreOffice to open word / excel documents https://docs.openkm.com/kcenter/view/ok ... ation.html

I hope this helps you.
Greetings,
PifPof

I discourage using OpenKM into MAC OS. There're several reason, might be most important:
1- you should disable a service in MAC OS what indexes all contents of your computer by default ( otherwise you will get a very very poor perfomance )
2- not trivial to get running thirdparty tools like -> libreoffice, imagemagick and tesseract among others
3- openkm should be used in production in a standalone server, not in a personal working computer ( I suspect might be your case )

Hi jllort,
You are completely right, but I just use the community edition for private use (single user mode).
I just start it once a month and import my documents, make a backup and shutdown it again.
Once / twice a year I need to do some researches (eg tax declaration or searching an invoice etc.).
Than I am glad to have all my papers in a database with full-text search (thanks to tesseract).

As I maintain Linux servers with databases with ERP / DMS Software as my daily job, I get openkm running, but its sometimes tricky on mac os, since this is a very special BSD - based OS.

For my use-case I think it is ok to be installed on a "normal working laptop".
In a MAC-only setting, it could be ok for openkm be running on a mac - Mini.

I just wanted to help alice434, as I am running this great software on my mac - so it is possible.

By the way - thank you for your great job on the free community edition. I always appreciate, if people willing to share their work, their knowledge and spent some additional heart - blood on it.
Thanks,
PifPof

Yes PifPof, it is possible to get running in MAC. In past, we support his scenario but a 3-4 year ago we decided was not a good idea, at least offer us the support. We found some problems like some MAC daemon what indexing all the documents what caused a lot of issues until we discovered was enabled by default etc... and other things ... that's why we do not support and if you do not have good control of MAC OS we do not suggest installing in this scenario.
