I prefer to avoid updating because I made some local modifications and updating brings to many conflicts..

If it's right to you to see in other panel than desktop then your solution is to implement your own application and embeded into openkm across iframe ( that's the easies way to get it ). I've modified NodeBaseDAO.java (because I saw that the access logic is implemented at that level) is this wrong?
